Forest Outpost Courtyard Key and Red Serpent House

Follow the cave route to the outpost buildings, then search the building reached after exiting the cave and going upstairs. Collect the Forest Outpost Courtyard Key and use it on the locked courtyard gate. This gives access toward the Red Serpent House bell. Search the adjacent buildings as you go, because the route description and nearby chest can otherwise make it easy to inspect only one room. ^{[2] [4]}

If the lock names a Backstreet Courtyard Key, you are following a different objective. That later key comes from Chen Zhu’s Ledger of Atonement branch in Mountain of Imprisonment and opens a Pangzhen courtyard. Before Bai Chilian: check the open Tales

Complete A Healer’s Mercy and accept Baishan’s next stage before the main Forest boss. Also review Honor Among Thieves and any open Valley investigation that lists a Forest deadline. These checks serve a different purpose from finding every collectible. Prioritize timed conversations first, then use your remaining exploration time on chests and optional paths. You can track completion more clearly when the journal’s quest state and the map’s collectible percentage are treated as separate records.

Returning to the frozen Forest

Entering Mirage Estate changes parts of Crimson Forest to snow and ice. Previously inaccessible frozen routes become relevant, and four bells in the changed area need to be collected again for area completion. Triple Threat also returns to the Forest later. Prepare the Blazing Edge and follow the updated Tale toward the Three-Faced Puppet encounter.
